We have several long-running projects on campus and are adding new projects all of the time.  If you would like to sponsor or assist with a specific project, please visit our "Donate" and "Get Involved" pages for information on how you can lend support.  Here are a few of the projects in progress this year:

Organic Vegetable Garden

During the 2016 - 2017 school year, we installed the first components of our organic vegetable garden: three raised beds and over a dozen small containers, as well as a row of sunflowers along the nearby fence.  Our first round of veggies included lettuce, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, squash, zucchini, carrots, pole beans, tomatoes, basil, and sweet potatoes.  Some of this harvest will roll over into the 2017 - 2018 school year.

During fall and winter 2017, we will plant a new round of cold-weather veggies, and we will finish the construction of our much-anticipated spiral herb garden.  In the proper season, we also plan to add a variety of berries.

Curb Appeal Projects

Beginning in 2015, the Green Team took on several projects to amp up the curb appeal around campus.  We removed several unhealthy shrubs from a bed near our front walkway and added dozens of tulips, which erupted in a beautiful display of color the following spring.  In 2016, we added daffodils, and in the fall of 2017, we'll add some lilies and irises to extend the show of color for a longer blooming season.  We've added several large flower pots with a mix of annuals and perennials in this area, too.

Down near the school sign, we've installed several colorful shrubs that are slowing maturing to fill the little bed there.  We plan to add more herbaceous perennials and bulbs to this area for more visual impact.

Bouquet Garden

In the early spring of 2017, we relocated some abandoned raised beds from a shady space between the sixth and seventh grade hallways and moved them into a sunny spot in that area for the purpose of growing bouquet-worthy flowers.

This year, we plan to add bulbs and sow seeds for flowers we will be able to cut and share with our guests, use as decor for special events, and send with our sentiments of congratulations or condolence to members of our school community.  We plan to grow lilies, dahlias, zinnias, and other flowers, with a special emphasis on maroon blossoms to show school spirit.
